Amwell Lodge No. 6459 met on Wednesday 16th September for its 313th Regular Meeting, with the principal business of the evening being the Raising of Bro. Fabio Hofer to the sublime degree of a Master Mason.
The ceremony was conducted by the Worshipful Master, W. Bro. Wes Pierce, with the assistance of W. Bro. Alan West. Following his Raising, Bro. Fabio was invested with the badge of a Master Mason by the Senior Warden, W. Bro. Ian Radley.
W. Bro. Alan West then delivered the Traditional History, while the Working Tools of a Master Mason were presented by Bro. Chris Stutley. The contributions of the Lodge team made this an evening of real significance in Bro. Fabio’s Masonic journey and another proud ceremonial occasion for Amwell.
The Lodge was also delighted to welcome W. Bro. Mike McHale as a joining member following a unanimous ballot. He was warmly welcomed by the Worshipful Master and presented with a copy of the Lodge By-Laws.
A total of 28 Brethren attended the meeting, including six visitors. Among them were familiar faces from our close friends and neighbours at Old Hertfordian Lodge No. 8083. As ever, the presence of our visitors added greatly to the evening and reminded us of the important place that visiting holds within Freemasonry.
Another notable moment came when W. Bro. Robin Crozier announced that, after several years of distinguished service, he would be standing down as Provincial Grand Superintendent of Works. In a warm and heartfelt address, he presented his Provincial collar jewel to fellow Amwell member W. Bro. Christian Meyer, ahead of Christian succeeding him in the office following his investiture at the Annual Provincial Meeting next week.
It was a fitting and generous gesture between two Brethren whose Provincial service continues to bring great credit to Amwell Lodge.
Charity also remained firmly at the heart of the meeting. The Lodge recorded that its summer barbecue had raised £498, with particular thanks offered to Old Hertfordian Lodge for its generous contribution. The Brethren also approved a donation of £500 to Sawbridgeworth Town Under 15 Falcons, the first girls’ team in the football club’s history, providing essential playing kit and training equipment.
Amwell was also proud to be ranked ninth among more than 150 Hertfordshire Lodges in support of the 2030 Festival, having already achieved Grand Patron status.
The evening concluded at the Festive Board, where members and visitors dined together in perfect harmony. It was another memorable evening of ceremony, progression and fellowship at the Premier Lodge in Hertfordshire.
