Amwell Lodge No. 6459 was consecrated on the 27th of June 1947, marking the beginning of what has become over seven decades of Masonic tradition and fellowship in Hertfordshire.
The Lodge was founded in the post-war period—a time when communities across the country sought to rebuild connections, foster goodwill, and promote the values of integrity, friendship, and charity. From its very first meeting, Amwell Lodge has remained committed to these principles.
Our founding Brethren came from a variety of backgrounds but shared a common desire to create a Lodge that would be both welcoming and active, supporting its members and contributing to the wider community. Since that day in June 1947, generations of Freemasons have passed through the doors of Amwell Lodge, each adding their own chapter to our ongoing story.
We are proud of our heritage and continue to honour the traditions established at our consecration, while also embracing the future of Freemasonry in a modern and inclusive society.
