Amwell Lodge continue to make their presence felt within Freemasonry, this time in the Holy Royal Arch, with five of its members attending a splendid Convocation of Ware Chapter. The evening was marked by true companionship, good humour, and the enduring bond that unites us as Companions.
The meeting was graced by a most distinguished and memorable occasion, as the proceedings were courteously paused for the unexpected entrance of the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent of Hertfordshire, E. Comp. David J. Hampton, who personally presented E. Comp. Errol Uttridge with the highly esteemed Certificate of Service to Royal Arch Masonry. This is among the most respected honours within the Province, conferred upon Companions whose long-standing dedication, commitment, and quiet excellence have greatly enriched the Order. To date, only thirty-seven such Certificates have been awarded within Hertfordshire, making this a truly proud and well-deserved moment for E. Comp. Errol.

The Convocation also witnessed Bro. Aaron Ball taking his first steps into the Royal Arch through an exemplary Exaltation ceremony. The ceremony was conducted with great dignity under the guidance of M.E.Z. E. Comp. Mike Tobin, ably supported by Amwell’s own E. Comps. Errol Uttridge and Adam Hardham as Second and Third Principals respectively.
A spirit of friendly fraternity was evident throughout the evening, particularly between members of Amwell Lodge and our long-standing friends and neighbours of Old Hertfordian Lodge No. 8083, both of whom were well represented within the Chapter, each taking a keen interest in the notable number of members from their respective Lodges. This cordial exchange, gently encouraged by A.Prov.G.M. W. Bro. Keith Dunnett (of Amwell Lodge), reflected the unity and good-natured fellowship that so aptly defines our Order.
Before the Convocation closed, it was proposed that W. Bro. Wesley Pierce of Amwell Lodge be admitted as a joining member of Ware Chapter — a fitting conclusion to an evening that once again demonstrated Amwell’s steady growth, active participation, and continued commitment to Freemasonry throughout the Province of Hertfordshire.
