Members and guests of Amwell Lodge No. 6459 recently enjoyed a lively quiz night, organised by W. Bro. Wes Pierce, which combined fun, fellowship, and generosity. Raising an impressive £1,000 for an inspiring cause.
The funds will support Sam Carey, who is running the 2026 London Marathon in aid of The UK Sepsis Trust, in memory of her sister Lianne, who tragically passed away in October 2024 following a sudden battle with sepsis.
Lianne was remembered as a true force of nature; kind, passionate, and full of life. A talented wheelchair athlete in her youth, she competed in the London Youth Games, National Track Championships, and even completed a charity lap of Silverstone. At just 11 years old, she became the youngest ever participant in the Junior London Mini-Marathon.
On receiving the donation, Sam said:
“Thank you so much — I can’t tell you how much this means to us. Running the London Marathon is my way of honouring Lianne’s incredible spirit and helping raise awareness of sepsis. Every mile I run will be for her.”
W. Bro. Wes Pierce and W. Bro. Robin Crozier presented the cheque to Sam, congratulating her on her dedication to such a meaningful cause.
Amwell Lodge’s efforts reflect the very best of Masonic charity and community spirit. Supporting others, remembering loved ones, and helping to save lives.
