Initiation, Raising & Vice-Patron

Amwell Lodge No. 6459 held a splendid Regular Meeting on Tuesday 17th September, conducted in true Amwell style. The evening began with a flawlessly presented Raising Ceremony, before welcoming a brand-new Initiate into the Lodge — taking his first step in Freemasonry. In addition, the Lodge was delighted to propose three further candidates, continuing the remarkable growth and interest that Amwell has enjoyed in recent months.

It has become something of a tradition at Amwell Lodge to see a steady stream of new Brethren joining, alongside regular ceremonies to advance our existing members on their Masonic journey. This vibrancy and activity within the Lodge makes Amwell a particularly rewarding place to belong – known to many as the Premier Lodge of Hertfordshire.

Charity remains at the heart of all that we do. At this meeting, the Lodge proudly made generous donations to Isabel Hospice and the Masonic Fishing Charity, which provides invaluable experiences for handicapped and underprivileged children. Supporting worthy causes is a central pillar of Freemasonry and one to which Amwell Lodge is wholeheartedly committed.

The Lodge was also honoured by the presence of our very own member, W. Bro. Mark Purtow, Provincial Director of Ceremonies, who was pleased to present Amwell with a Vice-Patron Certificate for the Hertfordshire 2030 Festival. With continued dedication and support, Amwell Lodge is on track to achieve Patron status by early 2026 — a testament to the generosity and commitment of our Brethren.

The September meeting was yet another shining example of the warmth, activity, and charitable spirit that defines Amwell Lodge. With so many Initiations, ceremonies, and charitable endeavours, the Lodge continues to thrive, offering a welcoming and fulfilling Masonic experience for all who join us.

We are also delighted to extend a warm invitation to all visiting Brethren to join us at our next Regular Meeting on Tuesday 3rd December, where the Lodge intends to perform another quadruple Initiation alongside a Raising ceremony. Witnessing a ceremony at Amwell is truly an experience like no other, and we look forward to sharing another memorable evening of Freemasonry with our guests.
